Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–2028

We are proud to launch the Southern Queensland Landscapes Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028; a commitment to strengthening relationships, deepening respect and creating meaningful opportunities with First Nations peoples across our region.

Our Commitment to Reconciliation

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that requires action, accountability, and genuine partnerships.

Southern Queensland Landscapes Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028 outlines how we will strengthen relationships, deepen respect, and create meaningful opportunities with First Nations people across our region.

Our RAP reflects our commitment to embedding First Nations knowledge, culture and perspectives into how we care for Country and support our community.

Our Vision

Our vision for reconciliation is for both Country and people to thrive.

We believe this is achieved by valuing First Nations culture, knowledge and science, and by building strong, respectful relationships grounded in trust and understanding.

By embedding this vision into our work, we aim to support healthy landscapes and flourishing communities for generations to come.

What is in our Reconciliation Action Plan?

Relationships

We are strengthening partnerships with First Nations people through collaboration, co-design and shared decision making.

Respect

We are embedding cultural understanding across our organisation and recognising the importance of cultural protocols.

Opportunities

We are creating pathways for First Nations employment, procurement and leadership.

Governance

We are ensuring accountability through clear actions, reporting and continuous improvement.

Turning Commitment into Action

Our Reconciliation Action Plan outlines clear and measurable actions to guide how we work over the next two years. This includes:

  • Building meaningful relationships with Traditional Owners
  • Increasing cultural capability across our organisation
  • Supporting First Nations-led land management
  • Expanding employment and business opportunities
  • Embedding cultural protocols into our work
  • Reporting transparently on our progress

This ensures reconciliation is not just a statement, but something we actively deliver every day.

Our Journey So Far

Our reconciliation journey has already led to stronger engagement with First Nations communities and greater cultural awareness across our organisation.

We have worked alongside First Nations artists, Rangers and knowledge holders, and integrated First Nations perspectives into our planning and projects.

This RAP builds on these foundations to deliver deeper and more meaningful outcomes.

Why It Matters

Healthy Country and healthy communities are deeply connected.

By working alongside First Nations people and respecting their knowledge, culture and connection to land, we can make better decisions for the future.

Stronger partnerships lead to more sustainable outcomes generations to come.

Working Together for Healthy Country

Southern Queensland Landscapes works across a diverse region alongside First Nations people, landholders, community groups and industry.

By combining First Nations knowledge and modern science, we can support sustainable land management and stronger communities.

Reconciliation strengthens this work ensuring it is inclusive, respectful and guided by those with the longest connection to Country.
