This project aims to help communities recover important wildlife habitat across the Main Range area as a result of severe drought followed by bushfires in late 2019.
In January 2020, the Australian Government made an initial investment of $50 million for emergency recovery of wildlife and habitat affected by bushfires.
SQ Landscapes has been engaged as one of many groups and teams selected to conduct these recovery projects on the ground with funding of $100,000.
The funds will be focused towards rebuilding ecological communities and helping the survival of native plant and animal species, and will be guided by field experts, research bodies, farmers and traditional owners.

We are working with a small group of landholders in the general Main Range area, Southern Downs Regional Council and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to assist with the recovery of the landscapes following the bushfire disaster in late 2019. The immediate priorities will include pest and weed control of species such as lantana, tree pear, boxthorn, feral pigs and wild dogs.
This environmental recovery effort is a collaboration between governments, environment organisations, scientists, farmers, communities, business, philanthropists and industry.
Further assessment of the impacts of the bushfires on the Main Range environment will inform the development and prioritisation of recovery efforts moving forward.
