While climatic extremes pose risks for all fish species in the Murray-Darling Basin, blackfish are particularly vulnerable owing to shrinkage of their cool climate habitat. Therefore risk mitigation for blackfish aims to employ achievable on-ground actions expected to buffer this external threat, by enhancing and extending structural and thermal habitat.
