Claire Steains

Claire Steains is a Project Officer based in Goondiwindi, bringing together veterinary expertise and agricultural science to deliver practical solutions for landholders. Starting her career as a mixed-practice veterinarian and later working as an agricultural laboratory technician with a focus on soil chemistry and cotton tissue testing, Claire has built strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the challenges faced on the ground. Her blended knowledge of livestock and agriculture systems are beneficial to the Project Delivery team.

She’s passionate about turning complex science into real-world outcomes and values genuine connections with stakeholders. She enjoys critical thinking and working efficiently to deliver outcomes on ground. A key part of her role is driving drought preparedness strategies that help build resilience across the region - work that Claire finds deeply rewarding as it supports long-term benefit to communities.

When she’s not working, Claire enjoys running, playing netball, and life on the farm with her partner and their two dogs, Maxy the golden retriever and Marley the kelpie.
